Since 1999, I have dedicated my career to residential design and construction. Over the years, I have come to believe that the most successful homes are not defined by size, cost, or style. They are defined by how well they support the lives of the people who live within them.

A home should do more than provide shelter. It should strengthen family relationships, create meaningful daily experiences, offer comfort and refuge, and create a lasting sense of place. When thoughtfully designed, a residence becomes a framework for life itself.

My professional journey began in Boca Raton, Florida, where I spent five years studying residential design under renowned Architect Rex Nichols while working on some of the region's most distinguished custom residences. Those formative years provided firsthand exposure to the planning, proportion, detailing, and client expectations required for ultra-high-end residential projects.

After establishing my own practice, I continued serving clients throughout Florida while expanding operations to Nashville, Tennessee in 2012. Working in both regions broadened my experience across a wide range of residential projects and reinforced a simple belief: exceptional homes are created through thoughtful planning, enduring design principles, and a deep understanding of the people who live within them.

Throughout my career, I have found that the most important part of any project is not the floor plan, exterior style, or construction budget. It is understanding how a family lives—how they gather, entertain, work, rest, and move through their daily lives. Every successful residence begins there.

One of the unique advantages I bring to clients is the perspective of both a designer and a builder. Design decisions do not happen in isolation. Every line drawn ultimately becomes something that must be budgeted, coordinated, constructed, and lived in. Having spent my career on both sides of the process allows me to create solutions that are thoughtful, practical, buildable, and aligned with my clients' goals.

I believe natural light should be considered as carefully as walls and ceilings. I believe circulation should feel intuitive. I believe a residence should provide both connection and privacy. Most importantly, I believe every design decision should serve the people who live there.

Today, as Founder and Principal of JDR Design-Build Inc., I guide clients through planning, design, and construction with a thoughtful and structured approach. By combining design experience with construction expertise, I help families move forward with clarity and confidence while creating homes that feel balanced, enduring, and uniquely their own.

My goal has always been simple: to create residences that improve the lives of the people who live within them—not just on the day they move in, but for years to come.
